Samsung Appoint New Director to Head up Network Division

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening their position in the IP convergence space, Samsung has appointed Sibel Tunali as Director of their Network Division.

Tunali has more than 20 years experience in the communications arena working at a senior level for Nortel Networks and Avaya in Turkey, Canada, Portugal, and for the past 15 years in the UK. For the past two years she led Avaya’s Business Development team for Hosted IP Convergence Solutions within the UK and EMEA, being primarily responsible for Service Provider business including BT, COLT, Telefonica and Equant.

Prior to working with Avaya, Sibel managed Nortel Networks, Vodafone 3G network implementation in Portugal including contract implementation, migration planning and operational readiness of the 3G network. Sibel also held a number of Sales positions at Nortel Networks including, VP of Sales for the Vodafone Global account focusing on business development in Spain, Italy and the UK.

Commenting on her appointment Sibel stated “I am delighted to have joined Samsung at this time and to drive the business forward in the IP convergence markets. Our portfolio of products, applications and services includes, Set Top Boxes, Broadcast Triple Play services, WiMAX, Integrated Access Devices (IAD’s) and converged communications solutions. The recent announcement by Sprint Nextel in the US selecting Samsung as a partner in the deployment of the first 4G nationwide broadband mobile network demonstrates the expertise of Samsung in WiMAX and further underpins the strength and reach of the global Samsung brand.”
