The relocation of Samsung Business Communications’ Sales and Product Marketing operations to Chertsey will also strengthen the company’s capabilities in addressing the UK CPE and Carrier market. The company’s Manchester office will continue to provide support, logistics, repairs and order processing while demonstration and training facilities will be located at both sites.
Commenting on the news, Samsung Business Communications Managing Director David Norton said, “This means that we are effectively expanding our footprint in the UK and will be providing as comprehensive a service in the South of the country as we always have in the North. The opening of new and identical Demonstration, Training and Sales facilities in Chertsey illustrates our determination to provide depth of service and support to all our Resellers regardless of their geography,” Norton continued. “We remain totally committed to the north of England where we enjoy a very high profile and which continues to provide an excellent platform for growth.”
As part of this move, Samsung is centralising its finance function by merging its Finance departments with the rest of Samsung Electronics operations in Chertsey. David Norton commented, “Regrettably this rationalisation has resulted in a small number of redundancies in Manchester, but there should be no interruption to our services as we are transitioning these functions over time. This means we will continue to operate our Finance department from Manchester over the next few months prior to changeover to Chertsey office. We recently completed the implementation of an automated supply chain management system company-wide, which has enabled us to centralise our financial operations with the rest of Samsung Electronics businesses.”
The new focus in operating from both the North and the South will enable Samsung to support more effectively its Reseller community and address the UK market as a truly national supplier.
