Secure mobile now available to the commercial and public market

Networks & Network Services
SiRRAN Communications has launched SecureCellular, a secure mobile phone that is network agnostic, meaning it works with any existing mobile contract with a data connection (no porting required).

SecureCellular is not an application or a bolt-on service it is technology that is securely embedded within the operating system of the handset(currently HTC HD2 and HD2 Mini, with iPhone and Android available in Jan 2012).

Until now the company has only made this level of security available to the military and certain government agencies. It is one of only a few systems in the world that is fully auditable and is accredited and used by the US Government and the US Military worldwide.

The security conforms to the FIPS 140-2 cryptographic security standard, providing end to end encryption including ‘in the air’ security. It operates on GSM, 3G and wireless LAN, and using its own optional SIM card can use any and all UK networks to make a call, making it one of the most available services in the world.

It can operate in secure and unsecure modes and has two numbers (the existing mobile number and a unique secure number).

Dr Keith Horsted, MD of Telco-op, a Platinum Reseller for the product, is keen to establish a channel to market. He said: “Securecellular offers dealer and resellers a unique differentiator that will enhance their existing mobile business without the upfront investment traditionally associated with mobile sales.”
