Shoretel Win Three College Deals

Pure IP unified communications solutions, ShoreTel, has moved further into the education sector with three new customer wins.

Cardiff’s largest further education college, Coleg Glan Hafren, the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Brighton and Trafford College have all chosen to deploy the ShoreTel system.

Coleg Glan Hafren has migrated 600 users to their ShoreTel system deployed across 4 sites, through Value Added Reseller Solar Communications. IT Manager at the college, Gareth Burton commented,

“With the ShoreTel system, our call handling has improved 100%. Auto attendant deals with the majority of incoming traffic, allowing callers to select an extension, dial by name, or by department. During our student enrolment period a mini call centre workgroup was setup, enabling us to handle some 30,000 calls over a month and a half. Previously, we had to employ temps or pull our staff away from other duties.”

ShoreTel’s reseller Videonations, has completed a deal to install Pure IP unified communications at Trafford College. With the merger of two colleges into one, it became apparent that a new IP telephony system was required due to the distributed nature of college premises at five separate locations. To solve the problem, ShoreTel’s IP telephony system will be installed, including 10 ShoreGear switches and nearly 450 handsets. ShoreTel was chosen as it was easy to administer, had strong resilience and its distributed architecture fitted succinctly with the layout of the premises.

Mark Swendsen, EMEA managing director at ShoreTel commented, “Trafford College faced a common problem in the education sector – dispersed locations and consolidation of assets. By using ShoreTel’s unique architecture, the college can connect these sites through one unified communications platform, which is simple for the IT department to manage from a central location.”
