Wholesale and channel telephony provider Simwood Group PLC has announced that founder and CEO Simon Woodhead will move to the role of executive chairman after 25 years in post.

Grahame Davies (pictured) has been appointed as the new chief executive officer. He has been with Simwood since 2013 as an advisor before becoming the non-exec chairman in 2014, and more recently in an executive role as chief operating officer. Davies co-founded Demon Internet and previously worked as managing director for Easynet, leading the company as it joined the stock market.

Woodhead expressed gratitude to his board, senior management team and “wonderful colleagues” in a statement announcing the appointments. He said, “Given this and personal challenges, this is the appropriate time for me to hand over the reins and I’m confident Grahame will bring a fresh approach that’ll lead the business to bigger and better places.”

Davies added, “I feel an enormous sense of duty and responsibility to Simwood and each of its staff and customers in taking up this role. I’m looking forward to working with all colleagues in the next phase of the company’s journey.

“In particular, I especially look forward to working closely with Charles Chance, chief technical officer, as the company drives forward building on its already established technical and innovative approach. I will be reaching out to our valued customer base to establish, renew and replenish relationships and to refine existing services and collaborate on our exciting roadmap.”
