In its largest intake ever, Softcat has today welcomed 78 new members of staff to its ranks. The new recruits, the majority of whom have recently finished university and are joining the reseller’s graduate scheme, will go on to sales, technical and administrative roles in each of Softcat’s six UK offices. The development comes less than a month after Softcat welcomed 23 new employees to its apprenticeship scheme.
While today’s intake is Softcat’s largest, attracting and recruiting talent is not new to the reseller who has seen staff numbers increase from 400 to 1000 in the last five years. Softcat has invested heavily in its apprentice and graduate schemes, which aim to develop and nurture staff through effective training and mentoring. New employees start with three weeks’ intensive training at the reseller’s UK HQ in Marlow before transitioning to Softcat’s regional offices in London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.
Softcat’s CEO Martin Hellawell welcomed the new employees, commenting: “It’s exciting to be welcoming a record number of people into the company today. Attracting and recruiting bright, enthusiastic and passionate people is a cornerstone of Softcat’s success and something we put a lot of effort into getting right. The IT industry is an exciting and dynamic place to work and I’m delighted that today’s recruits have chosen to start their careers with Softcat.”
He continued: “Of course, recruiting the right talent is just part of what makes Softcat successful – we also invest heavily in making sure it’s a great place to work, something that was confirmed by The Great Place to Work Institute when it recognised Softcat as the UK’s ‘Best Workplace’ earlier this year. Our employees benefit from a fantastic working culture and strong career progression potential. Many of our managers and directors are home-grown, starting out at a junior level and working their way up.”
