SOS Add to Portfolio

Speaking to Comms Business Magazine, SOS Communications Managing Director, Colin Hepher says his company has extensive purchasing, sales and repair capabilities, technical and cabling services, and this year added to its portfolio a new logistics facility aimed at maintainers of all sizes.

“This combination of services and the supply of both new and second user equipment, offers a unique cost effective proposition to the trade. The dedicated team of SOS account managers work closely with our resellers to provide the most profitable combination of refurbished and new equipment from most major manufacturers including Panasonic, Toshiba and Avaya. Not only do we see price as key, but we also appreciate our partners need to reduce overheads, and therefore offer tailor made logistical solutions.”

Hepher continued “In a saturated market with decreasing retail prices, we have focused our resources on purchasing well to achieve aggressive pricing. Our resellers do not need to commit to a monthly spend to gain a competitive discount level. In addition, our partners margins can be further improved as we offer money back for redundant equipment.”

SOS Communications’ business reflects the market and has seen the move to convergence by its resellers. Hepher added ‘As a Toshiba Authorised Distributor for the last five years, we have seen a growing increase in IP based products, in particular, the new Toshiba Strata CIX platform. This compliments the SOS long-term relationship ethos with its forward/backward compatibility, which allows the reseller and their customer to take a four year old CTX switch and upgrade to a pure IP platform easily and cost-effectively.”

Another area of growth has been the Technical Services division, which has seen considerable success since its set-up two years ago. Cabling, project management and site surveys, designed to help the reseller minimise costs, have all been in high demand.
