South West Communications Groups supports regional treasure

South West Communications Group has assisted in the restoration of the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare with high speed Internet connections that befit its new image.

A huge fire devastated the historic Grade-II pavilion on Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare in 2008. A multi-million pound restoration project has seen it transformed into a hi-tech state-of-the-art entertainment complex and year-round all-weather leisure complex.

The Grand Pier was a valued South West Communications Group customer who had provided its telephone lines for three years before the fire broke out. The Exeter-based communications experts enabled main phone and fax lines to be swiftly re-routed to alternative numbers following the fire and engineers worked with contractors involved in the rebuild to reinstate the phone lines in the run-up to the pier’s re-opening this summer.

South West Communications Group’s data engineers also installed a premium connection to the Internet to assist in the Grand Pier’s new technology embracing status.

Sarah Flowers, sales director of South West Communications Group, said: “As valued customers of ours, we were keen to assist in the restoration of the Grand Pier. As a regional business, we appreciate how fondly the pier is regarded in the South West. It is a local treasure.”

The Grand Pier plan to use their new Internet leased line, which is a private connection between the Pier and the Internet, to enable the use of the most up-to-date ticket technology, as well as e-based ticket credits that can be purchased online from anywhere in the world ahead of a visit to the pier.
