Southern Comms Set Out Growth Plans

Basingstoke based reseller Southern Communications is planning an expansion of their business over the next three years to take their turnover from £10m to £25m.

CEO Paul Bradford told Comms Business Magazine, “Over the last couple of years Southern Communications has laid the foundations for a solid and successful business. We have four distinct operating divisions; Call & Lines, PBX systems, Mobile and Broadband/Data products, all of which are performing really well and geared to take us even further.

Our offices just outside Basingstoke are ideally located for business and we are currently expanding the site to anticipate accommodating the additional staff that will be required to grow and support our customer base.”

According to Bradford growth will not just come from the organic route. “Southern Communications is a cash rich business with no debt. We are seeking to identify companies that we could possibly acquire and have the opportunity and resources to cross sell not only in to our own base but also on customers that join us through acquisition.”

Southern Communications was originally founded back in 1965 as a manufacturer of dictation systems but began selling telephone systems as the UK market became liberalised. Bradford joined the company as sales manager in 1995 and was a key figure in the management buyout of 2002. Turnover since then has risen from £2.5m to £10m and the company now employs more than 80 staff.

Today the company has key supplier agreements with Talk Talk Business, Gamma and BT. As well as selling SpliceCom systems Southern Communications is one of only three NEC Premier Partners and is a virtual service provider for both O2 and Vodafone.
