‘This is the largest European trip yet,’ said Peter Allen of STL who went on to say, ‘we tend to host bigger groups at Silverstone, but Jerez worked really well again and it’s become a bit of a tried and tested format now.’
The party stayed in the five-star Villa Jerez hotel and enjoyed a VIP day at the F1 circuit as guests of both Honda Racing F1 and the new Force One India teams. Both teams use IP telephony solutions from STL.
Paul Campbell said, ‘we’ve used a Samsung telephone system from STL for some time now, but this trip has really opened my eyes to the benefits of IP. We will be using Samsung IP phones so that people can work with more flexibility. The Pit Lane has to be the ultimate in remote working though!’
‘I had no idea that STL provided so much in the way of services and equipment to Honda and Force One India, said Rachel Brooks, who went on to say, ‘it was a really nice touch when Reubens Barrichello joined us at lunchtime.’
During the day the STL party spent time in the garages of both teams as they went about keeping the likes of Barrichello, Jensen Button, Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralph Schumacher on the track. There were also opportunities to tour the circuit and look behind the scenes at the services STL provide and support.
Peter Allen of STL concluded, ‘F1 is a great example of IPT being used in a technology sport and sales of both Samsung and Avaya solutions have almost doubled over the past year, largely as a result of being able to showcase through Honda and Force One India. We are planning quite a few more UK and European F1 related events for 2008!’
