STL Takes on First Apprentice

STL Communications has taken on its first ever apprentice. Jordan Branch aged 16 has recently joined the company for 3 months work experience in the operations team before he starts his 18 month Institute of Telecoms Professional Apprenticeship Scheme at City College Coventry in April.

The new (ITP) Apprenticeship Scheme is a professional training programme mapped to the modules of ICT Technician, so graduated apprentices will be eligible for ICTTech. The ITP supports learners throughout the scheme by giving regular contact with an assessor in addition to providing the academic content of the training course. During the 18 month programme, twelve weeks are spent at City College Coventry in an environment that echoes a commercial workplace.

Brendon Cross, STL’s managing director commented, “We are keen to build a skilled workforce for the future by investing in training young people to grow with us. Although we run our own internal Sales Development Programme, Jordan is the first technical apprentice that we have taken on and I am confident that he will be the first of many.”

Jordan added, “This is a great opportunity for me to get a professional training qualification combined with on the job experience and I am really excited about starting the course.”
