Mitel has moved to quell rumours in the channel by issuing a statement regarding company performance and organisational structures.
“Despite the recession impacting the market for business communications in the EMEA region in recent quarters, Mitel is performing well and continuing to win new channels and customers. Organisations are leveraging Mitel’s intelligent migration strategy to evolve to Mitel’s market leading portfolio of unified communications solutions to save money, stay connected, improve customer service and be green. In a challenging market, Mitel is strengthening its routes to market and maintaining its market position.
Whilst the recession has impacted the near term potential for growth in a number of the markets in which Mitel operates, it is anticipated that the economic downturn will stabilise, with signs of recovery already apparent in several markets. In light of this, Mitel is taking a realistic view of future growth potential and is taking prudent action to streamline it’s organisation to effectively manage the longer term market opportunities.
As part of this exercise, Mitel has reviewed its UK organisation and is taking action to streamline its top level management structure, as follows:-
Enda Kenneally is leaving Mitel to pursue other interests. Enda has made an outstanding contribution to the Mitel team during her tenure with the company. Her leadership, passion and experience in developing a channel-centric business model have been invaluable in driving Mitel towards its current position as a UK market leader in IP communications.
The Mitel team wishes Enda every success with her future career.
Graham Bevington, Managing Director for Mitel EMEA will be more directly involved in leading Mitel’s UK Business, having spent the last few years focused on overseeing Mitel’s market entry and significant growth in mainland Europe. Graham will focus his efforts on the evolution of the UK business including strategic, technology and partnership initiatives as well as engagement with clients and channel partners.”
The statement goes on to add;
“Mitel’s highly experienced UK Sales Directors Robert Hutton and Marcus Jewell will take full ownership of the UK SME and Enterprise businesses respectively, reporting directly to Graham Bevington. This recognises the capabilities and contribution of Robert and Marcus and the importance of both market segments to Mitel’s long term UK strategy.
Mitel continues its commitment to a channel-centric strategy throughout the UK and EMEA
Mitel remains totally committed to its channel centric strategy in the UK and EMEA. Mitel is flexible and responsive to channel and customer needs and will continue to effectively and fully resource it’s account management and support structure. Mitel has successfully supported its channels with hi-touch sales and support services and believes that its model has proved to be a win win. In the UK, under Enda’s leadership, Mitel was a pioneer in moving to a channel strategy of directly supplying and supporting all resellers, an approach that has worked well and contributed significantly to Mitel’s success. This long term strategy will continue to be applied.
Across the UK and EMEA, Mitel will continue to operate a channel centric model in all markets, whilst continuing to organically develop it’s go to market strategy to reflect specific country market and sector dynamics, as well as strategic partnership developments and new technology deployment models.”
