Twelve Switch Communication staff took to the Isle of Wight to face the 65 mile challenge around the hilly coast

With sunshine forecast the eager group of cyclists were left slightly nervous when they awoke to thunderstorms and rain. After a two hour delay in setting off, the sunshine came out as promised and, with a full English breakfast in their stomachs, the team in Lycra began their journey around the Isle of Wight. The beautiful scenery, sunshine and upbeat attitudes helped them climb their way to the top of the many hills that make up the coast line around the island. One staff member, Ross Johnson had the task of overcoming not 3 but 4 punctures within half an hour of each other. With Martin Howard (Operations Director) on hand in the support van, and the help of co-workers the group were soon back on track.

Stopping for a break after roughly every 20 miles, the Switch team made sure they were fully hydrated on water, energy drinks and energy bars, most being thankful for the opportunity to eat chocolate without feeling guilty! After 65.13 miles, 4:53:49 cycling time, 3,126 feet of climbing, an average speed of 13.3mph and 4384 calories burnt, the tired team cycled their way back to the B&B garden where they were greeted by a much deserved beer!

Whizz-Kidz have been Switch Comms chosen charity for over two years and more recently become a customer taking on a 70 user Hosted solution. The charity as a business has seen many benefits from this solution, in turn enabling Switch to put together a strong case study which was submitted to the Comms Business Awards. They have been shortlisted as a finalist for the SMB Convergence Solution award and now await their fate at the awards themselves this Thursday.
