T-Mobile brings Last.fm Mobile Discovery to Mobile Jukebox

Networks & Network Services
T-Mobile has launched an additional element to Mobile Jukebox, its mobile music service, for the ultimate consumer music experience. The new offering includes partners such as Last.fm, which brings its unique music discovery experience, driven by the music listening and sharing activity of its global community of 25 million users.

Accessed via T-Mobile's web'n'walk open mobile internet platform, the newly enhanced music service provides an integrated store front with everything a fan would want to see about their favourite artist. Strategic partners such as Last.fm, Wikipedia, and Shazam provide tools for music discovery, recommendations and biographical information about artists with a version created especially for mobile. Customers will be able to keep up to date with the latest artist news, track releases and event announcements while having the opportunity to download directly from Mobile Jukebox for a truly orchestrated music experience on their mobile or PC.

Gareth Williams, UK entertainment manager at T-Mobile, commented: "Our insights show that simplicity, value-for-money, and freedom to use the music the way they choose is what matters most to our customers. This new way of presenting music to our customers will connect them to the artists, news and music they want whenever and wherever they want."

Last.fm brings easy to use music discovery to T-Mobile by allowing its users to enter the names of their favourite artists to receive a list of similar artist recommendations. After clicking on one of the recommended links, an artist page will appear along with a list of all tracks available directly from T-Mobile. Clicking on one of these tracks prompts a list of T-Mobile's content options such as full track, ringtone or Ringback Tone/Caller Tune. When a full track is selected, users can stream a 30 second preview of the track from T-Mobile and can then purchase and download the track directly to their mobile.

Martin Stiksel, Last.fm co-founder, said: "We're working hard to ensure that the Last.fm experience can be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere and this exciting partnership with T-Mobile is undoubtedly another important step towards that goal. With information on over 43 million tracks and 12 million artists in our database of music information, we can provide T-Mobile customers with the most intelligent and compelling music recommendations."
