Tackling Mental Health of employees recognised as key to ongoing success at Midwich

Midwich, a specialist audio visual and document solutions distributor to the trade market, with operations in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Benelux, Iberia and Australasia have recognised the mental health of employees as a key component to their ongoing success.

Mental health issues are a normal part of everyday life, whether that’s at home or at work. To underline Midwich’s commitment to their staff, two members of their head office staff Lesa Orford, Midwich HR Manager and Simon Evetts, Head of UK Facilities & Health and Safety have both qualified as 'Mental Health First Aiders' for the company.

Lesa and Simon commented: “Following our successful completion of the course, we both feel confident that we’re able to spot the early signs of a mental health issue, feel confident in how to offer and provide initial help to a person experiencing a mental health issue and guide them towards appropriate treatment and other sources of help.”

In any one year approximately one in four people experience at least one diagnosable mental health issue and the World Health Organisation forecasts that by 2030 depression will be the single leading cause of the global burden of disease. The long-standing stigma around mental ill health means that many people have a limited understanding of mental health.
