As part of its ‘Giving Something Back’ scheme, a team of twelve staff (11 and one sub) from TalkTalk Business’ Warrington office painted goal posts, marked out the lines and even pruned back the trees to ensure the centre’s facilities remain in top condition during the busy summer period.
As the biggest youth centre in the UK, Bolton Lads & Girls Club on Spa Road relies on the help of volunteers to keep its £5 million pound facility open every day of the year and provide a vital out-of-school venue for local young people to socialise and exercise.
Hayley Denton, the corporate and community fundraiser at BLGC said: “Volunteers make a huge difference to us here at the centre, so we really appreciate TalkTalk Business’ support. Having an extra pair of hands for a day – or in this case, twelve extra pairs – means we’re able to do tasks that are not always possible on a daily basis. Our sports facilities have always been very popular amongst Bolton’s young people and thanks to organisations such as TalkTalk Business, we can keep them in the condition they need to be in.”
TalkTalk’s Giving Something Back initiative allows all of their 3,500 staff to take a day out of their normal schedule to help a range of local and national charities, including Ambitious About Autism, British Red Cross, Marie Curie and the Prince’s Trust.
