Tech Data is helping resellers take advantage of the potential to upgrade Check Point customers still running on the GAiA R77 threat prevention platform, with an offer that bundles appliance and software upgrades, a free technical workshop and a fixed rate on professional services.

Check Point GAiA R77 reaches end of support at the end of March 2019, creating a major opportunity for partners. The Tech Data Security Practice package will give partners everything they need to get customers moved across to the latest R80 versions of the platform in good time and ensure they stay fully protected. Tech Data will run several of the technical workshops, depending on demand. Its own Check Point experts will be made available to provide consultancy and professional services and support partners on customer migrations.

A large number of end-user organisations are still running R77, said Adam Horton, Security Transformation Business Manager, Advanced Solutions at Tech Data UK. “These organisations still on the R77 platform, vary from small installations with one or two appliances, to some that have scores of devices, so it is a big opportunity for Check Point partners.”

The plan comes as the Tech Data Security Practice is gearing up for Securing the Future of IT – the first in a series of events, at which Tech Data will lead discussions across all areas of security and demonstrate its full capabilities in supporting partners take end-to-end solutions to market.

Alison Nixon, Security Business Unit Director, Advanced Solutions at Tech Data UK, said: “We have been ramping up our investment and capability in security. We now have a full team of industry specialists and an extensive vendor ecosystem – and we are growing fast. We want to make even more use of our services and technical capability to support partners on opportunities like the Check Point GAiA R80 upgrade.
