Telcordia next generation OSS selected by Telenor

Telcordia, developer of fixed, mobile and broadband communications software and services, has announced that its Next Generation Operations Support Systems (NGOSS) solutions have been selected by Telenor, a provider of telecommunications services worldwide.

Telcordia OSS’s will support the replacement and operation of Telenor’s entire mobile broadband services infrastructure, spanning 2G, 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE technologies in Norway. The program is Telenor’s largest ever upgrade of its mobile network.

The Telenor Group is among the world’s largest and most innovative mobile services providers, with more than 170 million subscribers across 14 countries in Europe and Asia. In November 2009, it announced a six year program to replace its entire mobile services infrastructure in Norway with equipment provided by Huawei and Starent Networks.

“The potential of mobile broadband can only be fully realized if supporting systems and processes can manage the increased complexity,” said Mark Greenquist, president and CEO at Telcordia. “Our win at Telenor demonstrates that we not only understand the incredible possibilities at the frontiers of mobile, but more importantly, what is required to make them real.”
