TeleWare handset range enhanced with addition of KIRK

TeleWare has announced that the Polycom DECT base station KWS300 has completed product testing with the TeleWare Hosted Communications platform and been approved for deployment for TeleWare partners and resellers.

TeleWare maintains strict control over the technical standards required for each component concerned with the delivery of the end-to-end services from the Hosted Communications platform and publishes a list of approved components to all accredited channels. The KWS300 is a SIP-based wireless telephony system providing a single-cell system that can support up to 12 handsets and four simultaneous calls. A total of six KIRK repeaters can be added to extend the coverage area. The solution uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) and supports a range of handsets providing medical grade, budget and intrinsically safe options.

Polycom call this product its Wireless-Office-in-a-Box solution as it enables small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to deploy wireless voice more cost-effectively than ever before. The Wireless-Office-in-a-Box consists of three KIRK 2010 digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT) handsets and a KIRK Wireless Server (KWS) 300. This affordable, easy-to-deploy wireless solution helps small businesses to realise the benefits of enterprise-grade wireless voice without any costly overhead or complex management and administration requirements.

TeleWare envisages the target market for this solution through their channel as the small business market supporting up to 12 handsets.

“The KWS300 multi-handset base stations fit well into the small business area within our product range,” explained Paul Escreet, Product Specialist for the Hosted Communications platform. “TeleWare’s Private Mobile Extension covers the 12 user and above with its greater coverage per base station and greater scalability, plus the ability to use standard mobile handsets. This option costs in better for small deployments looking for a wireless office solution,” added Escreet.

ICON, the distributor of Polycom KIRK solutions in the UK, is partnering with TeleWare and will work closely with TeleWare’s Channel Partners to deliver the technical, marketing and back-office support needed to deploy the solution.

Mark Shane, Sales Manager at ICON said, “This represents an exciting opportunity for TeleWare’s reseller channel. We believe that this wireless office solution will be a huge hit with TeleWare’s channel partners and end users alike.

The KWS300 package requires very little set up. It plugs into the end user’s LAN and, once the required number of handsets have been added, it is ready to use with the Hosted Communications solution. Within minutes, the end user will have an on-site mobility solution which has been designed and built for business use, delivers high quality speech, is reliable and offers a choice of handsets from a range which includes handsets suitable for carpeted or industrial environments, including handsets which are ATEX rated and thus safe for use in explosive environments,” added Shane.
