Telstra Europe sets sights on the Channel

BT Indirect Channels has signed a strategic channel agreement with Basilica Computing Ltd, one of the UK's leading corporate resellers and solution providers, to expand the profile of its partner base

This is part of a strategic move from BT to grow its network of channel partners to include a wider mix of resellers specialising in hardware and software sales. The agreement enables Basilica to generate additional revenues from a more complete communications offering whilst expanding the opportunity for BT within Basilica's customer base.

Partnering with BT follows Basilica's decision to expand its traditional desktop and professional services offering and to become a true provider of end-to-end, integrated infrastructure solutions. To support the move, Basilica has invested in an Infrastructure Services team, which will proactively push BT solutions and technologies into its core customer base. Nick Wiltshire, Basilica Sales Director, said: "The opportunity for BT within Basilica's customer base is massive and partnering with BT gives us access to robust communications solutions. At our end, our strategic recruitment of a number of key sales people to spearhead this initiative demonstrates that we are very serious about making our new partnership with BT a success."

Basilica will provide a complete range of BT infrastructure services including LAN and WAN solutions and technologies, IP VPN and point-to-point networks alongside comprehensive network security to protect company data. BT is also the UK's largest ISP serving small and corporate business.

Lorna McPherson, general manager of sales for BT Indirect Channels said: "This is an exciting alliance for BT. Although in the past we have concentrated on recruiting voice networking specialists, we strongly believe that companies like Basilica make a significant addition to our partner base. Basilica is highly trusted and respected by its corporate business customers, and we can work with the company to help it meet the communications needs of its clients and to secure a greater proportion of customers' comms spend."

Rob Sanghera, who has been recruited to head up the Infrastructure Services team at Basilica said: "Being selected as a BT strategic channel partner is not only an excellent endorsement of our status in the market place, but also gives us the tools and solutions we need to deliver true end-to-end, integrated infrastructure solutions to our customers."
