The Artois Championships goes for VoIP

Event communications specialists Max WiFi have been selected to supply voice and data communications to The Artois Championships, the world renowned men’s tennis tournament held at the Queen’s Club, West London, 11th – 17th June.

Max WiFi will look after everything from leasing the phones, ordering lines and Internet connections to installing the network and providing technical support to end users.

“This is our fifth year supplying The Artois Championships with WiFi, but our first to offer a full IP telecoms package.” Says Richard Hughes Technical Director, Max WiFi.

“We’ve supplied 60 VoIP phones from hosted VoIP provider Voicenet Solutions. They’ll be used onsite by everyone including security, Tournament Directors, the players’ concierge and perhaps the most demanding, the media centre who expect the service to be stable and fast for the duration of the event. To make sure everything runs smoothly we’ll have a Voicenet Solutions trained administrator on hand to configure the phones and to meet all the requirements of the organisers and the press.”

“We were looking for a VoIP solution for sometime, firstly it had to be financially viable, and secondly, able to be installed easily as it is used by an array of clients at separate events around the country. Voicenet Solutions’ pure VoIP offering was ideal. They offer a plug-in and go solution plus they gave us a flexible contract that fitted in perfectly with the services we offer to event organisers.”

Max WiFi will be using an X-Rio Q-Balancer, which is perfect for an event of this nature as an ideal alternative to a high number of routers and networks. With the X-Rio Q-Balancer, Max WiFi is able to have multiple broadband lines for one network instead of many making for easier management and greater reliability.

“We’re very happy with the result of the communications and the fact that WiFi can be used throughout Queen’s Club, which will enable photographers to send photos to their news agencies from centre court.”

David Crombie CEO of Voicenet Solutions commented “Max WiFi’s communications offering is a perfect example of the versatility of hosted VoIP. It highlights the ease of the plug-in and go implementation plus the durability of our communications solution.”
