Leeds Mencap has had a boost to its vital communications systems thanks to a charitable in-kind donation equivalent to £10,000 worth of services and a Christmas donation from The Technology Group.

The communications specialist, which is headquartered in Leeds and provides next generation unified communications for companies, has once again committed to supporting the charity in Leeds with more than £10,000-worth of telephony support over the next year. This includes providing the Private Hosted telephony solution with handsets, connectivity and calls and adds to the £50,000-worth of support the firm has provided over the previous three years.

As well as providing communications systems, The Technology Group will also be donating to the charity instead of buying Christmas gifts for clients and suppliers. This donation will help the team provide services and activities to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with learning disability along with their families and carers.

Leeds Mencap, a local, independent charity supports over 400 people with learning disabilities and their families each year as well as over 3,000 people through its specialist facilities at The Vinery Centre, which includes a community nursery and meeting space and room hire. It relies on charitable donations in order to continue its vital work.

Cath Lee, CEO of Leeds Mencap, says: “We are absolutely delighted with the generosity shown by The Technology Group once again. Jonathan and the team have been fantastic supporters over the last few years and this donation is fantastic. This in-kind donation means that we can deliver emotional and practical advice and support to families in need each year. This could be helping a family with a child that has been excluded from school or supporting a family who need financial help as they have given up work due to their caring responsibilities.”

The Technology Group was founded by Jonathan and David Marsden who are both from Leeds. They started the company 8 years ago striving to run an independent comms company, passionate about providing local businesses with telephony solutions

Jonathan Marsden, Co-founder and CEO of The Technology Group, Leeds, says: “Having worked and lived in Leeds my entire life, it is an excellent opportunity for us to give something back as part of our social responsibility. We really want to support our local area, helping Leeds to thrive and develop in the future.

“I urge other businesses to support our local community and donate to great causes like Leeds Mencap in anyway they can. If that is personally through fundraising or with a product or service that your company can offer.”
