Thieves Target Cisco Gear in Damovo Robbery

Comms Business Magazine is asking channel companies to be on the look out for a large quantity of Cisco routers following a robbery at Horsham based comms company Damovo.

The local paper has reported that staff were held in an office while six men raided equipment from the company which is based at Broadlands Business Park, Horsham, company on last Thursday evening. The men accosted a female member of staff in a nearby car park at about 8.30pm and gained entry to Damovo.

Some of the men used verbal and physical force to gather late shift workers into an office, whilst the remaining suspects sourced the computer equipment and loaded it into a waiting van outside. The men were inside the building for around 45 minutes, before making their get-away with the stolen goods, in an unmarked transit van.

Staff members were very shaken up but none were harmed. No weapons are believed to have been involved. Paul Butcher, managing director of Damovo UK, said on Friday: “The situation is currently under investigation by the police and at this time no formal details can be released.

“However, I can confirm that a number of staff were on site and although very shaken by the experience I am pleased to confirm that no one was injured during the incident.”

“The Damovo Head Office is fully functioning today and customer service is unaffected. Additional security measures have been put in place for the welfare of the staff and neighbouring offices.”

DI Jo Banks said: “This was an ordeal for those involved, but they remained calm and called police as soon as possible. We are doing all we can to identify those responsible. It is vital that detectives find out where the men had been, in the hours leading up to the robbery.

“At this early stage, we also need to know the direction in which the van left, after the offence. We are keen to talk to any drivers who were on the A24 before 8pm and after 9pm, and who may have noticed a clean white transit van and its occupants, between Warnham and Rusper roundabouts, or elsewhere in the vicinity.

“Workers on the industrial estate may also be able to tell us about anything suspicious they may have noticed in the area in recent days, or weeks.”

The six men are believed to be white, but were wearing balaclavas and gloves.

“One suspect stood out and was wearing a camouflage jacket and stone washed jeans.
