Timico Acquires Handheld PCs

Business Internet Service Provider, Timico, has announced a move that extends its cloud-based hosting capability into the mobile space, and strengthens its position as a leading provider of Next Generation internet and communication services to the UK business community.

The acquisition of Handheld PCs, the Slough based Mobile Applications business, will deliver a new dimension to Timico’s range of mobile services, and will provide the group with a key component for repositioning their mobile proposition within their overall capability in supply and management of Next Generation Networks.

Handheld PCs currently partner UK mobile operator O2 with a number of business apps for mobile devices, including hand-e-pix, the hosted photo-cataloguing and storage application. This acquisition serves to strengthen the relationship between Timico and O2 for whom they are already a Service Provider.

“The addition of Handheld PCs allows us to make further progress in increasing our capability to address the growing demand for mobile based applications, the management of the smart phone devices on which they reside, and, in time, the integration of the mobile internet bearer into a corporate IP data network”, said Tim Radford, Chairman of Timico Group. “Add this to our leading capability to provide mobile connectivity and a range of customer focused billing services, and we are well positioned to help large communities of users for whom the management of the mobile data user is becoming a growing issue”.

Commenting on the acquisition, Darren Hilton said “Becoming part of the Timico Group is a progressive move which will bring stability to our large customers for whom we host and manage mobile business apps. Strategically it will also give us the development and hosting resources with which we will be able to extend our range of mobile device management services.”

Upon Acquisition, Darren Hilton and the team at Handheld PCs will relocate to the Group’s offices in Fareham, Hampshire.
