Titan Telecom Signs Fifteenth Channel Partner

Titan Telecom, a wholly owned subsidiary of Universal Utilities PLC, has signed its fifteenth sales channel partner since launching in April this year.

The partners are made up of telecom consultancies, utility brokers, mobile phone brokers and contact centres in the main and will provide Titan Telecom with the fastest route to market whilst providing the customer with an easy to understand, flexible and low cost option for telecoms.

Titan Telecom Limited has launched to provide small businesses with a cut price telecom service at around, according to them, a 48% (£238) overall saving on a typical customer spending £500 with BT on Standard Business rates.

The new service from Titan Telecom offers customers a 30 day no-obligation trial period, a one year contract and a price guarantee - not to be beaten on a like-for-like basis - and the price will be fixed for the period of the contract.

"It's a back-to-basics business model to provide a high quality service at a much reduced price to the customer, said Alex Heslip, Head of Sales, Titan Telecom Ltd.

"We are engaging with third parties to sell Titan Telecom's services and have been hugely encouraged by the response from many experienced channel partners, who know the market well and who are ready to deliver significant success from day one.

Titan Telecom's after sales communication processes with BT will be highly automated. "All provisioning and subsequent communications with BT regarding customer services is handled via WLR3, making Titan Telecom the first and the only telecom provider to operate solely on this state of the art system.

Titan Telecom is using BT's network and telephone lines maintained by BT Openreach, but provided at a lower cost than competitors' offerings, including BT itself.

"We have a price guarantee on a like-for-like basis which is fixed for the period of the contract - but our call prices are considerably cheaper than BT's Standard Business rates," said Heslip.

Titan Telecom's line rental is £9.99 per month versus BT's £14.37; national calls are 1p per minute and capped at 9p per call for the first hour, versus BT's uncapped 9p per minute; calls to mobiles are 12.9p per minute and capped at 29p per call versus BT's 16.7p per minute.*

"We are also considerably reducing the price of international calls for our small business customers - with the top 20 international call destinations, which include much of Europe, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia and Hong Kong, at 3p per minute, making our prices between 85% and 91% cheaper than BT.*

"Where price is the deciding factor for small businesses purchasing fixed line telecom services, as it is likely to be in the current economic climate, Titan Telecom should be their provider of choice because we explicitly seek to have the cheapest small business tariffs available in the UK."

The use of WLR3 is due to OFCOM's stipulation that by June 30, 2007 BT must provide equal market conditions for line switching for all CPs and BT Retail by using the same mechanisms to access the OpenReach network to ensure 'equivalence of input'.

Titan Telecom is a subsidiary of Universal Utilities which also owns Telecommunications provider Unicom.
