Top Three Finish for The Prince’s Trust

South West Communications Group has claimed third place in a national race to raise the most money for the Prince’s Trust.

The Exeter-based communications company had taken part in Million Makers. This is an annual drive that sees teams from across the UK compete against each other to raise the most money for the Prince’s Trust, which helps young people into work, while also enhancing team-work, leadership and communication skills.

South West Communications Group had already won the regional prize with its total of £30,910 beating Ernst & Young and the Royal Bank of Scotland, both based in Bristol. In fact, South West Communications Group beat their nearest competitors by £10,000.

All the regional winners gathered at a celebration held at the Emirates Stadium in London to learn which company had won the national prize. This went to the 500 Business Club from the Bank of Scotland. South West Communications Group came in a very respectable third place.

South West Communications Group managing director Harry Langley said: “We are delighted with the final total we managed to raise and delighted with our third place nationally. Both the groups ahead of us came from global companies with thousands of employees, We can only boast 120 members of staff but each of these did their bit to raise nearly £31,000. I am very proud of what we as a company, and as a fundraising committee, managed to achieve.”

The communications company’s fundraising efforts included a ball at Sandy Park, car washing, mufti days, scrap metal and mobile phone collections, the Exeter Chiefs calendar sales (plus match day car parking and bucket collections), a barn dance, sponsored slim, “Have Good Day ... Off” draw, Friday cake days and a parachute jump from Dunkeswell Aerodrome.
