Toshiba launches IP comms server

Toshiba is recruiting resellers to support sales of the solution.

Toshiba today launches IPedge, an integrated Linux-based communications server that will allow resellers to meet their customers’ needs for a reliable, powerful and easy to administer solution accommodating multiple applications. As it broadens its comms remit, Toshiba is also looking to hire a team of partners with data experience to support the sale of IPedge.

IPedge accommodates multiple unified communications applications on a single robust and secure server, including networked voicemail, conferencing with web collaboration and unified messaging. Its on-site mobility and fixed to mobile convergence solutions will help resellers target businesses with remote workers and schools where teachers move between classrooms and buildings.

“IPedge will allow our partners to offer the “best of both worlds”, with Strata CIX continuing to offer a converged solution and IPedge meeting the needs of customers looking to treat voice as an application on their network,” says Daniel Fuller-Smith, Sales Manager, Toshiba. “They will find the SME and education sector particularly receptive to this cost-effective solution, as the single platform will make installation, administration and any later expansion swift and simple.”

Toshiba is looking to directly recruit several new resellers with strong data experience, but there will be many more opportunities available with Capstan Communications, the recently appointed exclusive distributor of IPedge and a specialist in the communications and IP markets.

“Capstan Communications is known for its innovative products and excellent support services,” says Gordon Smythe, Managing Director of Capstan Communications. “We are excited to be sharing our IP expertise as we work closely with Toshiba to provide training and marketing support to resellers looking to include IPedge in their product offerings.”

IPedge is available in the UK from May.
