TVT selects Geo for secure data link to BBC Wood Lane

Geo Networks Ltd (“Geo”) today announced that it has secured a three year contract with leading broadcast service provider TVT. The deal will see Geo provide TVT with a dark fibre network that will link TVT’s headquarters in Chiswick to the BBC’s epicentre at Wood Lane. This will ensure that TVT’s customers’ traffic will be safely transmitted across a legacy-free, virtually limitless network.

TVT services some of the world’s leading broadcasters, preparing all programming for broadcast on BBC Worldwide's 20 plus international channels and UKTV's range of channels. Services provided include ingest, broadcast compliance, subtitling and dubbing, transcoding, metadata creation and delivery. It runs a tapeless environment and relies on high-capacity fibre optic infrastructure to transport and transmit SD and HD broadcast-ready content.

“We have existing connectivity with a well-known industry operator, but felt we needed the additional security of dual carriers,” said Kim Thesiger, TVT’s Managing Director. “It was a pretty straightforward decision. Geo was already connected to the building and we’d been hearing lots of noise about the company in the sector. With Geo’s network buried deep in the sewers, I can’t imagine that our customers’ traffic could be any more secure.”

“Adding TVT to the growing number of media and broadcast organisations joining Geo is a great accolade,” said Geo’s Sales Director of Media, Will Pitt. “TVT prides itself on delivering broadcast services via innovative, often in-house developed technologies. We are very much looking forward to working with TVT and enabling them to continue to provide their customers with a quality service.”

The three year deal is due to go live this month.
