Polycom has announced enhancements to its visual communications infrastructure solution, the Polycom UC Intelligent Core, that the company says will enable customers to connect lots of people in the highest quality at the lowest cost, both inside and outside their organisation.
The open-standards based Polycom UC Intelligent Core is claimed to be unique in delivering the broadest native integration with leading unified communications (UC) platforms, the lowest total cost of ownership versus competing solutions, the greatest network flexibility, scalability and redundancy, and superior investment protection.
Secondly, Polycom and McAfee are joining forces with a new alliance to jointly develop and deliver Secure Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC). The three main areas of collaboration are: joint research and development, sales and market alignment, and participation in activities promoting innovation and standardisation of UC security solutions.
The Polycom McAfee alliance addresses a growing need for enhanced security as organisations of all sizes increasingly turn to video-conferencing and telepresence to reduce costs, improve productivity, and maintain operations in the face of business disruptions.
