Vodafone UK makes it easier for businesses to manage their smartphones

Networks & Network Services
Vodafone UK is making it easier for employers to manage the mobile devices their employees use at work with the launch of Vodafone Smartphone Professional.

The new service makes it simpler for UK businesses to manage corporate data on some of the best selling smartphones including Android, Windows and Nokia devices, without interfering with the employee’s personal information on the device. It also means employees are free to use the device they choose.

Through an online portal, IT administrators can control applications, restrict a device’s functionality and remotely wipe confidential information from a lost or stolen device. The service, which incorporates Good Technology, the mobile security specialist’s, ‘Good for Enterprise’ solution, includes over-the-air and on-device encryption of business data such as email, calendar and contacts. Businesses also get a generous data allowance for each user on Vodafone’s network.

“With smartphones becoming increasingly popular, securing the way data is accessed and stored on these devices is crucial,” says Peter Kelly, Enterprise Director at Vodafone UK. “Many businesses want to allow employees to use the mobile device that they choose to do their job most effectively. With Vodafone Smartphone Professional, businesses have the peace of mind that mobile devices and data are secure on the UK’s best network.”

The service also includes helpdesk to helpdesk support as standard, which gives access to Vodafone’s expert team to ensure service availability and minimise downtime. Vodafone is also offering a range of remote management options or a fully hosted solution.

Vodafone Smartphone Professional is available for a small service fee, charged per user per month following initial set-up charges.
