Voip.co.uk has announced the acquisition of Danish unified communications specialist, Firstcom, in a technology driven move to accelerate the firm’s growth across Europe.
The company has acquired 85% ownership of Firstcom, for an undisclosed sum, with plans to initially retain two separate and complementary brands whilst continuing to develop its unified communications suite with further product launches anticipated later this year.
Headquartered in Oxfordshire, Voip.co.uk provides Voice over IP cloud based services and is most known for its superior SIP Encrypt product, which prevents phone hacking and is compliant with Payment Card Industry Data Security standards.
Adam Crisp, Chief Technology Officer of Voip.co.uk, said: “The acquisition of Firstcom is a strategic alliance to extend our reach across Europe with the development of next generation unified communications technology. Scandinavia is well ahead of the UK in terms of unified comms which will allow us to offer British businesses access to superior technology.”
The firm will soon be launching Firstcom’s flagship mobile enabled unified communications platform, ‘Universe’ to the UK market providing plenty of opportunities for Voip.co.uk’s existing and new channel partners.
Bjarke Salomonsen, CEO of Firstcom, said: “We have been developing rapidly for three consecutive years. With the new ownership we will have more resources to develop our offering to the market and we have the opportunity to share technologies and experiences with our UK colleagues, which is a fantastic opportunity for us. Everyone in Firstcom is excited by the new partnership.”
Both Voip.co.uk and Firstcom work with similar vertical businesses so the respective customer bases are highly beneficial with Firstcom set to offer Voip.co.uk’s SIP Encrypt service as part of its unified communications suite later this year.
