VoIP - Colt says "Don’t Panic!"

Asked to what extent do switchless resellers have to take account of VoIP? Stefan Adam, Director Resellers and Providers Europe at COLT told Comms Business Magazine: “Reseller have to take the changes towards VoIP into account - but there is no need to panic. There is still plenty of consumers and SoHos that have not considered to change their initial CPS provider.”

Adam continued, “CPS and WLR are still an attractive bundle with stable revenues and low churn. VoIP including DSL connectivity is a complex setup in contrast to well proven CPS provisioning. Resellers have to consider how to send CPEs on site - how to connect them - how to handle a lot of installation problems over the phone - and to make sure that the customer really uses VoIP.

On the question of will VoIP be more profitable for the resellers Adam commented, “On the SME segment VoIP might be part of the sales pitch to attract new customers. COLT is supporting this new market trends by developing dedicated VoIP solutions for Residential type and SME type resellers. Setting up the internal operational environment and support processes are the major changes for the resellers.”
