Wave Sends 650 Million Text Messages

Wave Telecom’s global wholesale division has reported record figures for its Direct Connect SMS service as its five year strategy to develop business across the globe and generate new revenue into the island begins to be realised.

Wave’s Direct Connect SMS service is an automated SMS messaging service which is used by companies based as far afield as Malaysia, New Zealand and the USA, and which last year exported 650 million messages.

This figure represents an increase of 46% on Wave’s wholesale figures for 2009, and the company is now aiming to exceed this record result by exporting one billion SMS messages this year.

Paul Bullock, head of business development, Global Wholesale for Wave Telecom, said: “Through focusing on building our wholesale partnerships we have established a global client base that chooses Wave’s automated SMS service over that offered by our international competitors. These fantastic results demonstrate how our five year strategy is taking shape and how we are now excelling in a highly competitive global market.”

“The key driver for choosing Wave as a provider is our excellent global roaming coverage and our rating as a tier 1 telecoms company. Our status is determined by the investment that has and continues to be made in everything from our mobile network, undersea cables and data centre infrastructure.”

Wave’s wholesale division provides an SMS messaging service for companies in the financial services industry, customer relationship management services, mobile software vendors, asset tracking companies and virtually every other industry that uses SMS to contact its customers.
