Westcon Group to Distribute Wireless IP Phones from Hitachi

Wireless SIP-based phones now available through Voda One Business Practice in U.S., with Comstor and Westcon to follow.

Distributor Westcon Group is to distribute wireless phones and accessories from Hitachi Cable. The agreement covers North America and Europe and includes the WirelessIP3000 and WirelessIP5000 handsets, both SIP-based wireless phones that interoperate with a wide range of network equipment.

The introduction of Hitachi Cable’s wireless solutions will initially occur at Voda One, Westcon Group’s U.S.-based business practice, which is rolling out a TeleTrack training series to help resellers exploit the wireless opportunity in several vertical markets including education, healthcare, retail and government. Voda One specializes in selling and supporting solutions from Avaya, and Hitachi Cable is one of Avaya’s DevConnect partners. Each of the WirelessIP3000 and WirelessIP5000 series handsets available from Voda One are configured to work seamlessly within an Avaya IP infrastructure.

“Hitachi Cable wireless handsets help companies improve employee connectivity while reducing their dependence on cell phones and related expenses,” said Steve Bernard, vice president and general manager of Voda One. “Users can securely access the network as long as they are in range of a Wi-Fi access point or hot spot, further leveraging the productivity of an enterprise network resource.”

“Voda One is enabling Hitachi Cable’s wide scale rollout of its IP phones in the U.S.,” added Louis Marra, senior vice president of Hitachi Cable America, Inc.. “Voda One has developed and supported a technologically sophisticated network of IP-oriented BusinessPartners who will play a very important role in getting our award-winning wireless phones to market.”
