Westcon Group has announced it will offer, through its UCC Solutions Practice, SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync in the UK & Ireland.
Microsoft Lync connects people everywhere, through instant messaging and presence, video conferencing, Lync meetings and telephony. The SMART Room System for Microsoft Lync takes collaboration to the next level; transforming meetings by enabling teams to collaborate in more creative ways and engaging every meeting participant. With a fully-integrated, turnkey solution, the SMART room system combines touch-enabled displays with an HD video camera, microphones and speakers, and enables users to ink on any application being shared on the desktop, including Microsoft Office Applications and Adobe.
Ralph Donohue, General Manager for Westcon’s UCC Practice in UK&I, comments “The Lync market opportunity is in double-digit growth, and with the addition of SMART meeting room systems for Lync, we can now offer our partners more choice in Lync-based solutions. The demand for video collaboration solutions is growing rapidly with 73% of enterprises wanting to expand their use of video in their organisation. Westcon has the broadest Lync ecosystem portfolio in distribution. In addition, through Westcon’s Services Solutions Practice we will be able to offer the ability to install and deploy the solution, ensuring our partners can quickly meet the requirements of their customers.”
Traditionally, technology supports three dimensions of collaboration – audio, video and content-sharing – but SMART solutions introduce a new dynamic of collaboration – a truly interactive 4th dimension where teams can fully engage and everyone contributes to something greater.
“Our ethos at SMART is to discover and re-discover how people learn and work. We focus on creating new working experiences for businesses and to liberate them from the traditional stale meeting room experience,” said Scott Brown – President, Enterprise for SMART Technologies. “Westcon has a strong heritage in unified communications and an unparalleled market footprint; it is an excellent partner to accelerate our growth and market share through its value-added distribution model.”
