Westcon Signs WLAN Agreement with Trapeze Networks

In a new Europe-wide agreement, Westcon will now distribute the entire line of Trapeze Networks’ mobility products, including its Mobility Exchange switches, its Mobility Point access points and its Ring Master deployment and monitoring tool.

By adding the Trapeze Networks product family to its mobility portfolio, Westcon now offers resellers a mobile networking solution that can be combined and scaled with a range of products from its other vendor partners such as SpectraLink and PowerDsine. According to research firm Meta Group, more than half of all organisations will deploy at least one wireless application by 2007.

Guy Koster, director of product management, Westcon Europe, commented: “The Trapeze Networks standards-based WLAN portfolio adds very compelling capabilities to our portfolio. With its high-quality voice-over-wireless capabilities, the Trapeze Networks portfolio also complements Westcon’s VoicePoint convergence proposition, enabling customers to improve productivity and enhance communication capabilities between employees by combining data and voice traffic on wireless networks. This level of functionality makes it ideally suited for just about any size business or vertical market.”

Bernie Dodwell, alliances manager of Westcon UK Ltd, commented: “By adding the Trapeze Networks product family to our portfolio, Westcon offers its customers the opportunity to become more successful in the convergence and mobile solutions segments by combining products from its other leading affinity vendor partners such as SpectraLink, Kirk Telecom and PowerDsine.”

Kees van Veenendaal, general manager and vice president sales, EMEA of Trapeze Networks, added:

“We are pleased to be working with Westcon in Europe as a key channel partner. Westcon brings a critical understanding of solutions-based selling, along with the kind of programmes and marketing tools that help resellers succeed in identifying and exploiting new opportunities.”
