Wireless LAN Source Flying High at Farnborough

The UK’s largest non-permanent network will be unveiled at this years Farnborough International Air Show by Wireless LAN Source (WLS). Normally known for aerospace exclusives, over 1500 exhibitors will use state of the art wireless and hard-wired IP telephony and Internet access across what is thought to be the largest non permanent network of it’s kind ever built in the UK.

The network from WLS follows their appointment as the official IT and telecoms provider for Farnborough International Air Show (FIA) for the next six years.

FIA’s Head of Operations, Andy Coulson, commented: “We were impressed by the solution offered to deliver a reliable, flexible, easy-to-deploy and cost-effective service. The range of products which Wireless LAN Source uses to build the network means we can offer a range of bespoke services to the exhibitors attending our event, providing them with the necessary tools to help them make the most of their day.”

WLS have been onsite for several months building the IT and telecoms infrastructure, enabling 300Mbps bandwidth into the site with up-burst capability, over 50Km of fibre, over 237Gbps of wireless bandwidth and over 6000 temporary cabled network points to cater for the show’s trade guests.

During the seven day event WLS will ensure connectivity for over 1500 exhibitors from 35 countries delivering 2,000 VoIP connections and up to 10,000 concurrent WiFi connections, enabling around 140,000 trade visitors to conduct business efficiently and effectively from the show’s on site Business Services and Meeting Centre.
