Zen in the Frame

Zen Internet is providing broadband connections for the Maplins UK Snooker Championship at the Barbican Centre in York. The event runs from the 4th December until the final on 17th December and promises to be the most exciting UK Championship yet.

The two Office broadband connections provided by Zen are required for the purposes of offering a high speed internet connection to the media personnel situated in the media centre, allowing them to release their event coverage articles with the minimal delay and for the provision of a real-time livescores feed to the World Snooker website. In addition the connections offer the tournament staff a link to their head office for e-mail and data connectivity.

Zen’s partnership with World Snooker at the 888.com World Snooker Championship in April 2006 was key in them being selected to provide this service and is further evidence of Zen being the market leader in supporting events such as this.

Lee Entwistle, IT Manager, World Snooker Ltd commented: “I have chosen Zen as our broadband provider for this event because I have been extremely satisfied with the service they have already provided for events in the past and wanted to make sure that for such a major event as the Maplins UK Championship, I had on board a company I could rely on.”

Iain Johnstone, Sales and Partner Programme Manager, Zen Internet, said: “We are very pleased to be involved once again with World Snooker. Our experience earlier this year stood us in good stead and we were able to respond quickly to the situation providing the connections to ensure that the organisers were able to concentrate on the event itself.”
