Zen promotes John Lyons to lead the company’s ultrafast network investment

Zen Internet has promoted John Lyons to the position of technology director as it looks to continue its growth streak and re-affirm itself as a true challenger brand to the “big four” telecoms providers.

Lyons, who has spent over eleven years at Zen, steps into the role following three years as general manager of cloud and hosting in the Zen Business division. Prior to this he spent four years as head of cloud & technical services, having previously risen through the ranks within network & infrastructure, leading the teams of architects and engineers that built and designed Zen’s network & services.

Tasked with overseeing the next stage of Zen’s technological evolution, Lyons’ priority will be to ensure Zen harnesses technology opportunities across networking, communications and cloud to support the company’s ambition to be an ultrafast pioneer and challenger brand across each of the markets it serves. Lyons will now sit on the company’s executive committee, reporting directly to CEO Paul Stobart on the architecture, design and development of all technology at Zen.

“John’s promotion comes as a great opportunity for the business with his experience and ability to think outside the box proving an asset as we start to adapt and absorb new technology in the next phase of our development as a brand,” said Paul Stobart, CEO of Zen Internet. “2020 has been challenging for everyone, so it’s imperative that we continue to grow and establish ourselves as a pioneer in ultrafast connectivity, cloud communications and cloud computing.

“To do this, we are strengthening our core network in readiness for the digital age to come. Promoting John is a sign of intent of what we hope to achieve in the next phase of our development, and I have no doubt he’ll play a leading role.”

Lyons added, “Having been at Zen for over a decade I have seen first-hand how the business has achieved sustained and consistent growth. I’m a strong advocate of our most fundamental long-term objectives of “Happy Staff, Happy Customers, Happy Suppliers” and our long-term, sustainable approach to business, both of which resonate strongly with my own personal beliefs.

“With ultrafast technology set to revolutionise the way we work and live, I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead Zen’s hugely talented technical teams to continue to deliver high quality services for our rapidly growing customer base.
