ZyXEL Comes up Trumps for SMBs with New Wireless Networking Technology

ZyXEL Communications has highlighted the benefits of its new class of wireless technology - the Hybrid. Combining wireless access point technology with wireless controller functionality, ZyXEL’s hybrid range is ideally suited to small and medium organisations.

Offering low total cost of ownership, ZyXEL’s new hybrid technology essentially turns the traditional access point into a controller or managed access point, as such helping to save both money and time. Hybrid technology delivers a truly scalable solution that can grow from a stand-alone access point to a centrally managed system capable of supporting up to 200 users, therefore providing business with the benefits of a traditional wireless controller but at fraction of the cost.

“Smart hybrid technology makes wireless deployment much more attractive for smaller organisations and growing businesses. It completely eliminates the needs for a costly wireless controller, and with the ability to manage and control multiple access points, it’s a totally scalable, lower cost solution that can grow with an organisation,” explained James Harris, head of product management, ZyXEL UK. He continued: “On average we estimate that it takes around 20 minutes to manually configure a wireless access point. That might not sound like much of a chore but when you have multiple access points to contend with, we’re talking hours and hours of time. On top of the configuration, there are management and maintenance issues also. With hybrid access points, the network can be managed centrally so there’s no need for a dedicated IT department.”
