Mobile World Congress (MWC) is a platform where many manufacturers like to launch their latest technology and this year was no different. Here, we take a look at a select few launches which wowed audiences.
Huawei Matebook X Pro
The Chinese giant is a fan of launching several devices at MWC and this year was no different. They have been working hard to compete with Apple devices when it comes to aesthetics and to be fair, the Matebook X Pro is one sexy piece of kit. Accusations have been thrown at Huawei for being a mee-too brand of late but this ‘emerging brand’ is actually coming up with some impressive technology of its own. Most notably in the X Pro is the pop up camera which is hidden in one of the keyboard keys.
Energizer H590SEnergizer has made a bold statement by entering the smartphone market and they are clearly trying to solve a problem that plagues us all… battery life. The H590S (probably the least appealing device name ever) comes with a 5800mAh battery which will get you to day two without needing to look for your charger. In the hand it’s a bit of a chunky beast, but this is a rugged device which is both shock proof and waterproof (it can be submerged for 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes) The 5.9-inch screen is made from Gorilla Glass 3 and is Full HD
Sony Xperia XZ2Yes, Sony are still making smartphones! The latest flagship from the long-time tech brand has been positioned as the phone to get Sony back in the smartphone arms race. Sony have pulled up their socks when it comes to the design, it’s sleek and encompasses a new design language which Sony calls “Ambient Flow”. Marketing spin aside, this just means is curved in the right areas and doesn’t have sharp edges and sits in the hand slightly better. Features inside that will get users salivating are the upscaling standard-definition content to HDR and also the camera upgrade to a stonking 19MP, it can take 4K HDR shots which is an industry first. The price tag is still unknown.
