CMA invites Three-Vodafone merger comments

The CMA has shared an update on its investigation of the anticipated joint venture between Vodafone Group and CK Hutchison Group.

The joint venture would merge Vodafone UK and Three UK, with both companies previously sharing plans for a six-person board, comprising three directors appointed by Vodafone and three directors appointed by CK Hutchison.

Under the proposals, current Vodafone UK CEO Ahmed Essam will become CEO of the combined company, and current Three UK CFO Darren Purkis will take the role of CFO.

The CMA has decided to investigate this transaction and to assist it with its assessment, it is inviting comments on the transaction from any interested party, in advance of the CMA’s formal investigation starting.
