Cogent Distribution launches connectivity solutions for the maritime sector

Berkshire-based Cognet Distribution has launched a suite of connectivity solutions for the maritime industry.

The new services will provide ports and harbours, marinas, ferry operators and system integrators with connectivity technologies for digitalisation and automation projects.

The maritime sector is looking to digitalisation and automation technologies to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and enhance safety and security, while reducing costs and the negative impact on the environment. Ports are therefore being turned into renewable energy hubs, and freeports are promoting regeneration and jobs, creating a hub for trade and a hotbed for innovation.

Cogent Distribution has therefore developed advanced connectivity solutions for the maritime industry using products from selected manufacturers, including RADWIN, RF elements, SAF Tehnika, Siklu by Ceragon, Teltonika Networks, Peplink and Perle Systems. This integrated product portfolio is particularly effective when used for applications in challenging and harsh environments, with the technologies being deployed in isolation or combined to provide a comprehensive solution.

Jim Kernahan, managing director at Cogent Distribution, said, "Our team has extensive experience working with the maritime and marine recreation industries, and we’re keen to play our part in maritime transport’s decarbonisation and transition to net zero by 2050. We've recently attended events at Port of Leith and Teesworks as new members of UK Ports and we're ready to expand our reach to more ports and harbours embracing the next technological advances."
