Dimension Data is extending the capabilities of its managed services offerings by integrating Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 into its existing Global Services Operating Architecture (GSOA). This move is part of Dimension Data’s alignment to the Microsoft Infrastructure Optimization Model, and further broadens its services portfolio.

“Dimension Data has historically provided world-class managed services around core networking infrastructure – primarily routers and switches,” said Scott Petty, group executive – services, Dimension Data.

“By integrating Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 as a component of our services architecture, we are able to extend the scope and depth of our service capabilities to provide management and reporting to the business application and server level.”

The company’s participation in Microsoft’s six-month beta program for Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 resulted in the development of these enhanced service capabilities. With multi-tenancy and enhanced scalability built in, combined with Dimension Data’s service architecture and business model for the provision of managed services, the result is true end-to-end service management made available to enterprise clients around the world.

Larry Orecklin, general manager, Systems Center marketing at Microsoft commented: “The successful integration of System Center Operations Manager 2007 into Dimension Data’s existing management platform is a testament to the enterprise power of our tools. We have worked with Dimension Data to ensure that together we provide a compelling platform to our customers worldwide.”

Building on the success of Dimension Data’s award-winning Dynamic Desktop Deployment solution, the enhanced functionality gained by integrating Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 has enabled Dimension Data to deliver a range of new services which build on its strong core infrastructure management portfolio.

“Our clients come to us for high-quality, reliable services to plan, build, support and manage the core infrastructure that runs their business. By coordinating with Microsoft, we are able to truly work towards optimizing our customers’ core infrastructure whilst managing their mission-critical Microsoft platforms and applications. This will drive up technology maturity, which in turn will increase business maturity – something for which all of our clients strive,” concluded Mr Petty.
