Mitel appoints new international region head

Mitel has appointed Simon Skellon as SVP and head of international region.

Skellon will be responsible for leading the sales strategy of the business in the EMEA - with the exception of Germany, Austria and Switzerland - and APAC regions, supporting the company’s global expansion plans following the acquisition of Unify in 2023.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the business communications industry, Skellon brings a wealth of knowledge of the UC market and has built deep relationships with channel and VARs operating in multiple markets. He spent more than 18 years working in a range of sales leadership roles at Mitel before joining Atos Unify, where he was responsible for developing, managing, and executing the company’s strategy across more than 50 markets.

"I’m thrilled to be rejoining Mitel at such an exciting time in its journey," said Skellon. "I look forward to working with the global sales team to drive further growth across our international markets and bring more value to our partners. While we work on a seamless integration between Mitel and Unify teams, we’ll be focused on ensuring our partners can capitalise on the benefits from the acquisition including new service improvements, enhanced product capabilities and wider market reach."

In his new role, Simon will be supported by an expanded sales leadership team.

Tarun Loomba, president and chief executive officer of Mitel, said, "Driving growth across our international markets is of critical importance for our global strategy. Simon has immense experience running international sales operations and knows both Mitel and Unify incredibly well so he is uniquely placed to help us achieve our goals. With the recent acquisition of Unify, we have the footprint, portfolio and talent required to be the top player in the enterprise UC market globally, and I’m confident that Simon and his leadership team will lead us to success."
