Mitel appoints Trust Distribution as 5000 CP distributor

Three years after abandoning the two tier channel model in the UK Mitel has announced the appointment of Trust Distribution as a value added distributor for the Mitel 5000 Communications Platform (CP) that was initially developed by Mitel acquisition Inter-Tel.

Trust Distribution will focus on building partnerships with resellers with no existing direct relationship with Mitel, offering the opportunity to tap into growing demand from small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) for high performance, cost-effective communications through the 5000 CP.

Mitel says it has awarded distribution rights for the 5000 CP to Trust Distribution because Mitel believes Trust has the ability to give its resellers the expertise and support they need to sell specialist SMB platforms and applications.

Under the terms of the agreement, Trust will offer the 5000 CP to new resellers in the UK that don’t currently offer the platform, to expand Mitel’s reach. A focus solely on the 5000 CP is designed to enable Trust to develop in-depth expertise around the platform and its applications and provide maximum added value through network consultancy and support services.

Mitel will continue to manage direct relationships with its existing resellers, including those already offering the 5000 CP, providing them with access to the full Mitel portfolio and ongoing support.

Designed for smaller businesses, the 5000 CP enables companies to blend voice and data systems to create an effective hybrid IP communications environment, which also delivers analogue support. The flexible solution allows SMBs to scale up to 250 users and can improve productivity, streamline their infrastructure and reduce costs.

The 5000 CP also delivers a complete suite of business applications, including Unified Voice Messaging, Hot Desking and Meet-Me Conferencing, and can support a range of advanced unified communications applications.

“The market for unified and IP communications is growing significantly among smaller businesses and our agreement with Mitel aims to position Trust to help resellers tap into this opportunity,” said Paul Hunter, Mitel Brand Manager for Trust Distribution. “Mitel has invested heavily in the 5000 CP and its applications, which was a big attraction to Trust. We are now positioned to offer our resellers an alternative, feature-rich platform that is not over-distributed, enabling them to meet the communications needs of SMBs both now and in the future.”

“The 5000 CP is well suited to a distribution model and Trust is well placed to service the small business market and broaden Mitel’s reach into that market,” commented Robert Hutton, Sales Director, Mitel. “By expanding our channel strategy to include distribution of the 5000 CP through Trust, we can further increase our penetration into SMBs and maximise the opportunities for all Mitel resellers in the growing IP and unified communications markets.”
