Phonebox Communications, the mobile communications specialist, has today announced its acquisition of North West-based Wire Communications, consolidating its customer base and geographical reach through the addition of Wire’s resources.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, will see Wire’s office and staff joining the Phonebox brand and operate alongside Phonebox’s five existing offices. Wire Communications founder Claire Daniels is to bring her extensive B2B background to her new role as a Phonebox business manager.

The deal forms part of Phonebox’s plans for rapid expansion over the next three to five years, during which time it intends to substantially increase its sales force and complete a number of acquisitions. This process has been accelerated by the current economic climate, which has meant that smaller dealerships are seeking to align themselves with a greater market force.

Nigel Harrison, managing director, Phonebox Communications commented: “The acquisition of Wire Communications is indicative of our position in the market at the current time. We are extremely bullish about the coming years as events in the global economy present new business opportunities and mean that top-calibre sales people are available to join us. Acquiring Wire Communications, a very well-established dealership, gives us the springboard for similar moves in the near future.”

In addition to its acquisitions and recruitment initiatives, Phonebox has recently launched two new websites, and, reaching consumer and business customers with targeted content for each. The B2B website is one of the first of its kind to offer full e-commerce across such a broad portfolio of business offerings.
