WightFibre supplies broadband, telephony and TV packages to residential and business customers in the Isle of Wight. It has secured funding of over £100m from private equity and the UK government to achieve its objective of delivering next-generation, ultrafast gigabit-capable broadband across the island.
The network operator needed a billing partner capable of providing a sophisticated billing platform to handle the complexities of ISP billing for their critical infrastructure. After being invited to tender for the role, PRD Technologies was awarded the contract.
Simon Adams, MD of PRD Technologies (pictured) said that the first step to addressing the complexities of flexible ISP broadband billing is to identify existing challenges and look to the future for what else might be required.
“ISPs need the ability to diversify rapidly in the current market, due to the boom in hybrid and flexible working and the associated demand for fast and reliable broadband, flexible services, packages and bundles,” Adams said in a statement.
“Our team worked closely with WightFibre evaluating their current and future needs and developed a fully automated version of our ‘Intelligent Billing’ platform with API integrations with third party systems.”
According to PRD, its resulting system requires zero manual input, saving time, resources and eliminating the margin for human error. The system automatically applies customer and billing data, charges to client accounts and associated products, as well as override packages, bundles, reporting and outputs to other systems.
Nathan Swallow, head of network operations at WightFibre commented: “Being a local Island company means homes and businesses depend on us for uninterrupted internet access. WightFibre take that responsibility very seriously – but we don’t stop at simply providing some of the world’s fastest broadband.
“We want to deliver the best possible customer service to every one of our users on the Isle of Wight. Our ISP billing system needs to be reflective of those exacting high standards, maintaining total confidence in our capabilities.
“The innovative and flexible team at PRD has come up with intuitive solutions to solve the increasingly complex challenges we face as a telecommunications provider.”
WightFibre is now generating 10,000+ invoices per month using the new platform, with scope to scale rapidly and seamlessly.
