Snom unveils M500 dual-cell system

Snom has announced the launch of its new M500 DECT multi-cell system.

The new DECT system has been designed for medium-sized offices, shops and businesses, with the M500 enabling two base stations to be coupled in a series and combined into a single cell. This makes the system a solution that is easy to implement if the number of available LAN ports is limited or LAN cabling cannot be installed.

Regardless of the VoIP provider, the connected DECT base stations can support up to 16 DECT IP telephones, enabling up to 16 calls to be made at a time, and the integration of up to 48 SIP identities.

Snom’s M500 system has a range of up to 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors, as well as LDAP and XML phonebook support.

It also features a central telephone directory with 500 entries, which is accessible to all connected telephones, as well as three LEDs for DECT and VoIP, or power supply status. The new system can also be powered by existing PoE switches.

The DECT dual-cell system is operated with two new end devices: the Snom M55 cordless handset and the M58 DECT desk phone. Both devices have wideband audio and antibacterial housing. Seamless handover also allows uninterrupted calls between base stations.

The Snom M55 handset features a durable design and solid haptics. This includes a large 2.4" colour display, a zero-touch provisioning function, line monitoring, call acceptance and hold/return, as well as six LED function keys which can be programmed broadcast and intercom groups.

The 1,500 mAh battery offers up to twelve hours of talk time in HD audio quality, via both wired and wireless headphones.

The Snom M58 DECT desk phone combines a 5" colour display and flexibility in placement, as well as DECT-over-IP functionality so it can be used in office or fixed workstations without additional VoIP cabling.

All settings can be customised centrally using zero-touch provisioning, and the software can be updated wirelessly if necessary.
