Virtual1 joins MEF

Virtual1 has announced that it is joining the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

The MEF is an industry association of 200+ member companies, and the driving force enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated communication services that empower users with the dynamic performance and security required to thrive in the digital economy.

Virtual1 has led the way in the UK, “As owners of the UKs most advanced wholesale-only network, we have been at the forefront of Partner enablement through our 1Portal and suite of API’s, so joining the MEF is the next logical step for us” comments CEO Tom O’Hagan.

“With our continued focus on the international carrier market, these standards are a key part of demonstrating the maturity of our proposition, alongside our ISO27001 and ISO22301 certifications”

Now members of the MEF, Virtual1 will be undertaking a program to internationally certify both its Ethernet portfolio and API capabilities.

However, it is not just gaining these accreditations that is significant about membership, Virtual1 CTO James Hickman says “We are excited about joining the Metro Ethernet Forum, we firmly believe that APIs and integration with the supply chain will be critical to the future of our industry. They will be essential to delivering an outstanding customer experience, and that is a conversation we are keen to be a part of and to help shape on the global stage”
